Forces of Australia, New Zealand and Papua New Guinea. With
a financially sound business, well-trained staff, comprehensive
inventory of spares and a total product support philosophy

Our History
Helitech
traces its history back to 1956 when Brisbane businessman,
Frank Sharpe (later knighted for his services to the helicopter
industry), secured the Australian distributorship for the
Bell Helicopter Company and formed Helicopter Sales
Pty Ltd. Under Sir Frank's leadership, Helicopter
Sales Pty Ltd prospered and some 250 Bell helicopters (including
about 50 military helicopters) were sold in Australia.
In 1970, Bell Helicopter
Textron purchased Helicopter Sales Pty Ltd. The Company's
name was changed to Bell Helicopter Australia Pty
Ltd , and the Company operated as a 'branch' of Bell
Helicopter Textron, a subsidiary of the Providence USA based,
Textron Inc.
In 1986, under a
"management buyout", Helitech Pty Ltd acquired
the business of Bell Helicopter Australia. The original facilities
and senior staff were retained and the Bell dealership was
transferred to the new Company.
In 1987, as a result
of a technical restructure, Helitech Pty Ltd became a wholly
owned subsidiary of Helitech Industries Pty Ltd .
Helitech Industries saw a need to reduce its reliance on one
principal product range by expanding into closely related
activities where there were synergies, a good understanding
of the business, and opportunity for growth. In 1988 Helitech
Industries acquired the Dallas, Texas based rotor blade repair
specialist Composite Technology Inc (CTI) and its subsidiary
companies in California, Winnipeg and Singapore.

International Airport and incorporates spacious, clear span
hangar, and dedicated specialty workshops for structural repairs,
drive train component overhaul, hydraulic component overhaul,
rotor blade and bonded panel repairs, and electrical and avionics
servicing.
In 2001 Helitech
Industries acquired the dealership for the sale of new Piper
Aircraft and genuine Piper Aircraft spare parts in Australia
and Papua New Guinea.

In September 2003,
Sikorsky Aircraft Australia Limited acquired Helitech's Bell
customer service facility, spare parts, design engineering
and training school business elements of Helitech Industries.
The acquisition included existing military contracts for the
provision of manpower and logistic support services to Army
Aviation; deeper maintenance of Kiowa helicopters; dynamic
component overhaul for Kiowa and Iroquois; rotor blade repair
and the supply of flight critical spare parts to the Australian
Defence Force. Helitech Industries other business interests,
such as the Piper distributorship and CTI, continue under
separate ownership and management (Avesta Holdings).
